About Trilokinath Temple

In the remote Himalayan region of Lahaul-Spiti, there’s this beautiful ancient Trilokinath Temple, which dates back to the 8th century. Triloknath Temple is located in the Udaipur subdivision of Lahaul and Spiti district, Himachal Pradesh. It is approximately 45 km from Keylong, the district headquarters, and around 146 km from Manali. Historically, the temple was known as Tunda Vihar. This unique temple is important to locals as it’s famous among both Hindus and Buddhists. Hindus worship the deity as Lord Shiva, while Buddhists revere it as Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion.

This temple dates back to the 10th century, as confirmed by a stone inscription discovered within the temple complex in 2002. The inscription states that Dvanjra Rana, believed to be an ancestor of the present Rana Thakur rulers of Triloknath village, built the temple. If you’re planning to explore this beautiful Spiti Valley Packages including this temple are the best options for you.
