Narsingh Temple in Joshimath is a sacred shrine dedicated to the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the half-man and half-lion Narasimha. As a key stop in Chardham, it holds immense spiritual significance, being one of the 108 Divya Desams and the winter seat where the idol of Lord Badrinath is worshipped for six months.
The temple is also famous for a prophecy regarding the shrinking wrist of its presiding deity's idol. Legend says that when the wrist eventually breaks, the road to Badrinath will be blocked forever by a massive landslide. This mystical element, combined with the temple's serene Himalayan setting, makes it a highlight for pilgrims booking their Chardham tour packages.
The temple is open daily from 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM, though afternoon kapat (closing) typically occurs between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Entry is free for all devotees, and no tickets are required for darshan.
