About Salar Jung Museum

The Salar Jung Museum is located on the banks of the Musi River in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is one of the three National Museums of India and among the most visited museums in the country. The museum is named after Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, also known as Salar Jung III, who collected a vast treasure of art and antiques from across the globe.

Many travellers include the Salar Jung Museum in their South India tour packages because it offers a deep dive into world history, culture, and craftsmanship. The museum houses over 40,000 artefacts and 50,000 books across different galleries. From Persian carpets and Chinese porcelain to European statues and Indian weapons, the variety is stunning.

What makes the museum special is that it holds items from countries like Egypt, Japan, Italy, France, and India, all under one roof. For history lovers, students, and tourists alike, it’s an enriching experience and a quiet escape into the past.
