Rudranath Temple, the fourth Kedar in the Panch Kedar circuit, is a unique rock-hewn shrine where Lord Shiva is worshipped as "Neelkanth Mahadev." Nestled at 3,600 meters, it offers a profound spiritual experience amidst the raw beauty of the Garhwal Himalayas. Including this sacred site in Chardham tour packages allows pilgrims to explore the deeper mystical heritage of Uttarakhand.
The temple is renowned for being the toughest Kedar to reach, requiring a 20-kilometer trek through dense rhododendron forests and alpine meadows. Unlike other shrines, the "Mukha" or face of Shiva is worshipped here. The trek rewards adventurers with breathtaking 360-degree views of Nanda Devi and Trishul, making it a pinnacle of Himalayan devotion and trekking.
Rudranath Temple is open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM (closed 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM). The entry cost is ₹800.
