Nanda Devi is India’s second-highest peak and a gem of the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand. The mountain has a height of 7,816 meters and is named after the Hindu goddess Nanda, who holds deep religious significance for locals who worship it as the blessed abode of their patron deity (Protector). Its striking twin peaks and challenging terrain have drawn mountaineers from across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after climbing destinations in the Indian Himalayas.
Nanda Devi Trek has become popular among all Uttarakhand Tour Packages. The mountain sits within the Nanda Devi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, home to rare Himalayan wildlife like snow leopards, Himalayan musk deer, and numerous bird species. The peak remained isolated for years due to its difficult approach through the Rishi Gorge, adding to its beauty. The first successful climb was achieved in 1936 by a British-American expedition, and since then, it has remained a symbol of ultimate mountaineering challenges in India.
