Martyr’s Lane, also known as Shehidler Khiyabani, is one of the most important historical sites in Baku. Located on a hill overlooking the city and the Caspian Sea, it serves as a national cemetery and memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives during the Black January tragedy in 1990 and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Many Baku tour packages include Martyr’s Lane because of its cultural importance and the unforgettable experience it offers to visitors. The place is beautifully maintained, peaceful, and filled with deep emotions. As you walk along the rows of black marble tombstones, each with portraits engraved, you’ll feel the deep respect and love the country holds for its heroes. The Eternal Flame Memorial, the tall red obelisk, and the panoramic views make it not only a historical site but also a quiet retreat from the busy city.
