Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary

Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, is a beautiful natural paradise that spreads across 975 square kilometers of the mighty Himalayas. This protected area is home to some of India’s most amazing wildlife, including the snow leopard, Himalayan tahr, and musk deer. It’s one of the few places where you can spot these rare animals in their natural habitat.

As this trek starts from Kedarnath, it can be easily included in Uttarakhand tour packages. The sanctuary sits at heights between 1,160 meters to 7,068 meters, making it perfect for both wildlife lovers and adventure seekers. During spring and summer, the whole place turns into a colorful canvas with rare Himalayan flowers like the Brahma Kamal (which only blooms at night) and blue poppies. The sanctuary surrounds the famous Kedarnath Temple, so you get to experience both nature and spirituality in one amazing place.
