About Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple

Kaleshwaram Temple is one of the most sacred temples in South India. Located in the Bhupalpally district of Telangana, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds a special place in Hindu beliefs. It sits near the confluence of two rivers – the Godavari and the Pranahita. Locals believe that taking a dip at this confluence washes away sins and brings blessings.

Historically, the temple is very old. Though exact dates are not recorded, it is believed to be thousands of years old. The main deity here is Lord Kaleshwara, a form of Lord Shiva. This temple has two Shiva Lingas on the same base—Kaleshwara and Mukteshwara. It’s very rare to see this anywhere else in India.
