About Bridge of Peace

The Bridge of Peace in Tbilisi isn’t just a way to cross the Kura River—it’s a jaw-dropping piece of modern art that has become a symbol of the country’s step into the future. This bow-shaped pedestrian bridge opened in 2010, connects the old town with the new district.

The bridge has quickly become one of Tbilisi’s most photographed landmarks and a must-include stop for anyone planning their Georgia tour packages. As night falls, over 10,000 LED lights begin their dance across the bridge’s surface—a light show visible from across the city.

Unlike many tourist attractions that have centuries of history, the Bridge of Peace is comparably new. Designed by Italian architect Michele De Lucchi, the structure represents Georgia’s emergence from its Soviet past into a bright, European-oriented future.

Timings & Entry Fee for Bridge of Peace:

  1. Bridge of Peace is open 24/7, and it’s completely free.
  2. This makes it an excellent addition to any itinerary, whether you’re an early bird wanting to catch the morning sun reflecting off its glass panels or a night owl eager to witness the full glory of its light show.
  3. The bridge is at its most spectacular after dark, around 9:00 pm, when the LED light system creates a stunning hourly light show. If you want to avoid crowds, early mornings or late nights (after 11:00 pm) are your best bet.
  4. While the bridge itself doesn’t have operating hours, the surrounding Rike Park closes at midnight, so keep this in mind if you’re planning to explore the area afterward.
