About Zabarwan Hills

The Zabarwan Hills are a picturesque sub-mountain range nestled in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Stretching between the Dal Lake and the majestic Himalayan ranges, these hills offer breathtaking views and serene landscapes. The Zabarwan range is most famous for housing the Mughal Gardens of Srinagar—Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, and Chashme Shahi—set along the foothills and offering panoramic views of the Dal Lake. These hills are also home to the Dachigam National Park, a protected area rich in biodiversity, including the endangered Kashmir stag (hangul). During spring and autumn, the hills come alive with a riot of colors, making them a favorite for photographers and nature lovers. A walk through the Zabarwan Hills is a tranquil escape into nature, blending lush greenery, snow-capped peaks, and centuries of cultural heritage.
