Songtsen Gampo was a powerful Tibetan emperor who ruled during the 7th century and is credited with founding the Tibetan Empire. A visionary leader and devout Buddhist, he played a crucial role in spreading Buddhism across the Himalayan region. He married Princess Wencheng of China and Princess Bhrikuti of Nepal, both of whom influenced the growth of Buddhism in Tibet. Songtsen Gampo is known for constructing 108 temples across the Himalayas, including the sacred Kyichu Lhakhang in Bhutan and Jokhang Temple in Lhasa. His reign marked the beginning of Tibetan written script and laid the foundation for Tibet’s spiritual and cultural development.

This was my first international trip and Bhutan turned out to be the perfect destination. The itinerary was well-balanced with nature and culture. There were some concerns about permits on day one, but the on-ground support team stepped in and sorted it efficiently. Really appreciate how Viacation took care of every little detail.
