About Shillong Peak

Shillong Peak is the highest point in Meghalaya, rising about 1,965 meters above sea level. Located around 10 km from Shillong city, it offers panoramic views of the entire city, the Himalayas, and even the Bangladesh plains on a clear day. Surrounded by dense pine forests and scenic beauty, the peak is a perfect escape for nature lovers and photographers. It is also home to an Indian Air Force radar station, so visitors need to carry valid ID proof to enter. The tranquil environment, fresh mountain air, and breathtaking views make it a must-visit spot for anyone exploring Shillong. Local legends also associate the peak with the guardian deity of the Khasi people, adding cultural significance to its natural charm. Early mornings or sunsets offer especially magical experiences.
