Rinpung Dzong, also known as the “Fortress of the Heap of Jewels,” is a majestic fortress-monastery located in Paro, Bhutan. Built in the 17th century by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, it serves as both a religious center and the administrative headquarters of the Paro district. The dzong features impressive traditional Bhutanese architecture with towering walls, intricate woodwork, and beautiful murals depicting Buddhist legends. It hosts the annual Paro Tsechu festival, one of Bhutan’s most important religious events. Overlooking the Paro River, Rinpung Dzong is not only a spiritual hub but also a symbol of Bhutanese culture, heritage, and historical resilience.

This was my first international trip and Bhutan turned out to be the perfect destination. The itinerary was well-balanced with nature and culture. There were some concerns about permits on day one, but the on-ground support team stepped in and sorted it efficiently. Really appreciate how Viacation took care of every little detail.
