About Kanha National Park

Kanha National Park, located in the heart of Madhya Pradesh, is one of India’s most celebrated wildlife sanctuaries. Spanning over 940 square kilometers, it is renowned for its rich biodiversity and lush sal and bamboo forests, open meadows, and serene streams. Kanha is best known as the inspiration behind Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book and as a prime habitat for the majestic Bengal tiger. It also shelters rare species like the hard ground barasingha (swamp deer), which has been successfully revived here. Visitors can enjoy thrilling jeep safaris, birdwatching, and nature trails through this vibrant ecosystem. With its well-maintained infrastructure, diverse flora and fauna, and conservation legacy, Kanha offers a captivating wilderness experience that blends adventure with ecological awareness — making it a must-visit destination for nature lovers and wildlife photographers alike.
