About Jagdish Temple

Jagdish Temple, located in the heart of Udaipur near the City Palace, is one of the city's most iconic and spiritually significant landmarks. Built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singh, this Indo-Aryan style temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, worshipped here as Jagannath. The temple features beautifully carved pillars, majestic ceilings, and finely sculpted statues that reflect the rich heritage of Mewar architecture. A steep flight of steps leads to the main shrine, which houses a striking black stone idol of Lord Vishnu. Surrounding shrines dedicated to other deities like Lord Shiva, Goddess Shakti, and Lord Ganesha further enhance its sanctity. The temple is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of Udaipur's cultural and architectural brilliance, attracting devotees and tourists alike throughout the year.
