About Gangotri temple

Gangotri Temple, located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand, India, is a revered Hindu shrine dedicated to Goddess Ganga. Perched at an altitude of 3,100 meters in the Himalayas, it marks the origin of the holy River Ganges. Built in the 18th century by Amar Singh Thapa, the temple is an important part of the Char Dham pilgrimage. Open from late April to early November, Gangotri attracts thousands of devotees each year. The temple's serene surroundings, including the Bhagirathi River and nearby glaciers, add to its spiritual significance and natural beauty, making it a sacred and tranquil destination.

We trekked, rafted, and relaxed in Uttarakhand—all planned by Viacation. Their attention to safety and comfort for our family was much appreciated.

The yoga retreat in Rishikesh was life-changing. Viacation’s team answered all our questions about ashram bookings and were a phone call away.
