Drukgyel Dzong, located in the upper Paro Valley of Bhutan, is a historic fortress built in 1649 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to commemorate Bhutan’s victory over Tibetan invaders. Though largely destroyed by fire in 1951, its ruins remain a significant cultural and historical site. Restoration work began in recent years to preserve its legacy. Surrounded by scenic views and with the majestic Jomolhari mountain visible in the distance, Drukgyel Dzong stands as a proud reminder of Bhutan’s resilient past

This was my first international trip and Bhutan turned out to be the perfect destination. The itinerary was well-balanced with nature and culture. There were some concerns about permits on day one, but the on-ground support team stepped in and sorted it efficiently. Really appreciate how Viacation took care of every little detail.
