About Dal Lake

Dal Lake, located in the heart of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, is a breathtaking jewel of the Himalayas. Often referred to as the “Jewel in the crown of Kashmir,” this serene lake is known for its mirror-like reflection of the surrounding snow-capped peaks and Mughal gardens. Spanning over 18 square kilometers, Dal Lake is famous for its colorful shikaras (traditional wooden boats), floating vegetable markets, and luxurious houseboats that offer a unique staying experience. The lake is divided into four basins and is surrounded by vibrant local life and scenic beauty. Tourists can enjoy a peaceful boat ride, explore the floating gardens, or simply unwind amidst nature. With its tranquil waters and postcard-perfect scenery, Dal Lake remains one of the most enchanting and romantic destinations in India.
