Chicham Bridge is one of the most thrilling engineering marvels in India, standing tall at a height of 13,596 feet in the Spiti Valley. Chicham Bridge is the highest bridge in Asia. What makes it special is the heart-stopping view of the 1,000-foot drop below, which has turned it into a major attraction that is included in all Spiti Valley Packages. It’s a must-visit spot that offers both thrill and stunning views of the surrounding Himalayan landscape.
Before the bridge was built in 2017, locals had to use a dangerous ropeway to cross the gorge, which often put their lives at risk. Today, this bridge has become a lifeline for the residents of Chicham village, connecting them to Kibber and other parts of Spiti Valley.
The bridge is open 24/7 and is free to access. However, during heavy snowfall in winter (December-February), access is restricted. It’s best to visit during daylight hours (9 am to 5 pm) for safety and better views.
